GEOMAGNETIC STORM WARNING:
Over the past few days, active sunspot 1045 has hurled a series of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) toward Earth. These are not the kind of major CMEs that will spark auroras over, say, Florida, but they could spark some very nice lights around the Arctic Circle.

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristoff attempted to pass off the exploitation of cheap labor as a humanitarian initiative:
The best strategy for Haiti: building garment factories. The idea (sweatshops!) may sound horrific to Americans. But it's a strategy that has worked for other countries, such as Bangladesh, and Haitians in the slums would tell you that their most fervent wish is for jobs. A few dozen major shirt factories could be transformational for Haiti.

Bollywood heart-throb makes mockery of Australia-bound nude airport scanners
The British Transport Secretary said last week that images taken by new full-body X-ray scanners, which capture the human anatomy in detail, would be destroyed immediately and not pose a risk to travellers' privacy.
But Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan has debunked the government's claims, telling BBC talk show host Jonathan Ross that he autographed printed scans of his own body for two female security officers.
