For a long time, I wondered why manipulation victims have a hard time seeing what really goes on in manipulative interactions. At first, I was tempted to fault them. But I've learned that they get hoodwinked for some very good reasons:

4. What our gut tells us a manipulator is like, challenges everything we've been taught to believe about human nature. We've been inundated with a psychology that has us seeing everybody, at least to some degree, as afraid, insecure or "hung-up."

So, while our gut tells us we're dealing with a ruthless conniver, our head tells us they must be really frightened or wounded "underneath."

What's more, most of us generally hate to think of ourselves as callous and insensitive people. We hesitate to make harsh or seemingly negative judgments about others. We want to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they don't really harbor the malevolent intentions we suspect. We're more apt to doubt and blame ourselves for daring to believe what our gut tells us about our manipulator's character.

Great IDEA to do yourself; have a "few" wishes, send them into Universe and watch them create for almost nothing (I can tell !! :-)
Couple completely make over their house with reclaimed goods that cost them next to nothing
Kresse and James were delighted after snapping up a second-hand SMEG fridge, worth £1,200 new, for free.
They fashioned granite sideboards in the kitchen, which would usually would cost £500-600, for nothing by sourcing unwanted offcuts.
The couple were also pleased when they managed to snaffle pallets and scaffolding wood to make two beds, saving hundreds of pounds.
They also paid nothing for the large ceramic kitchen sink, of which similar styles can fetch anywhere up to £200 new.
The eight large wardrobe doors also made no impact on the wallet - again saving hundreds of pounds.
I " bought" (after I wished for it and waited a bit) a stainless-steel fridge for 10 euro, my kingsize-waterbed for free, pimped the free dining table into a beautiful one, ETCETERA ..

From the standpoint of American history, they don't come much bigger than George Washington and recently the Museum was offered the chance to acquire a true rarity - a Masonic apron that was said to belong to the First President.
The first question - was this fact or fiction?
It is well established that George Washington was a member of the Freemasons, a fraternal society that had reached America from Great Britain by the 1720's.
He became a member of Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 in 1753 at the age of 20, and would serve as the master of Alexandria Lodge No. 22 in 1788.
Five years later, while serving as President, he led the Masonic ceremony to lay the cornerstone of the new United States Capitol.
As a Mason, he would have owned at least one apron, perhaps more.
These aprons are worn at Masonic meetings, called lodges, as well as at public ceremonies and serve to identify the wearer as a member of the fraternity, a link to the leather work aprons worn by stone masons of the Middle Ages.
