Witnessed fall of Tissint Mars meteorite stirs excitement
A meteorite from Mars is a rare bird indeed.
There are only about 60 known.
A witnessed fall of a Martian meteorite is rarer still.
The last time it happened was on October 3, 1962 in Nigeria when the 40 lb. Zagami meteorite landed about 10 feet away from a farmer who was chasing cows from his field.
Fifty years later another piece of Mars came zinging through the sky, this time in Morocco.

He is a 33rd degree Freemason, and a senior member of the infamous P2 Lodge.

Phobos-Grunt: Kwajalein radar
There has been much speculation recently about the possibility that Phobos-Grunt was damaged by a powerful U.S. radar on Kwajalein, that supposedly was tracking an asteroid.
The large asteroid 2005 YU55 did pass close to Earth (~lunar distance) on the night P-G was launched, and it was tracked by certain radars (Arecibo, Goldstone).
I have yet to find evidence that any of the Kwajalein radars participated, but even if they did, the following chronology reveals that the asteroid was below Kwajalein's horizon during both of P-G's passes.

Californian city pipes BIRDSONG on to the streets to calm citizens
Residents of Lancaster have been treated to the restful twittering of robins, wrens, tits and blackbirds for the past 10 months after Mr Parris installed more than 70 speakers in the town.
The warbles and twitters, mixed with soft synthesiser tones and water sounds, is broadcast five hours a day along a once crime-infested half-mile stretch of Lancaster Boulevard.
Police say minor crimes in Lancaster, a city of 157,000 people which sits on the edge of the Mojave desert, have since fallen 15 per cent and serious crimes by six per cent.
